Communal chaos in India

The church attacks were the most shocking news I was faced with in the past few months. India’s pseudo secularism had reared its ugly head amidst us citizens. The incident that started out in Kandhamala in Orissa was seen making its way over the nation. We saw Punjab, Kerala, Karnataka fall victims to its violence. It struck me speechless that people could attack other people in the name of religion. Religion is such a personal belief and how can one be prosecuted in the name of a system, whose basic foundation roots on tolerance and peace? And does it help to have political parties staging their drama over this and using it as a tool just to cash in on more votes? One evil after another and leaders who thrive on the nation’s downfall. When are we allowed a respite?

This is where I strongly believe that choosing a right candidate becomes a responsibility that should be a foremost priority for all of us. Amidst all the regular party offers, there is one person, Captain Gopinath who has taken up the responsibility to start a movement for change. Shouldn’t we giveS him a chance? Do you all feel as I do, that this person could actually lend a voice to all our frustrations? Send me your responses and queries.

I agree that we are in need of a representative who can help us get out of these repetitive issues. Hope Captain Gopinath can be that person. But what would he do if he is elected to stop communalism. It is such a huge problem. What would be the beginning steps to solve it?

The stance that Captain Gopinath takes that makes him different from other candidates is that he will not make any decisions that is disconnected with the realities of common people. So if communalism is the issue, his decision will be one based on how people see it being solved. It will be a decision made together after hearing every one’s point of view. This is why he has formed a Citizen’s Committee. I would ask you to take a look at his website http://www.votecaptaingopi.com to learn more about it and also view the videos on the Citizen’s Committee formation meet at http://www.youtube.com/user/votecaptaingopi

    Dear Dhiru Shetty,

You have mentioned that Mr. Gopi is contesting elections to stop/curb the communal violence ( one of his goals). You have also mentioned about the pub attacks which took place at Mangalore.

If Mr. Gopinath is so concerned to put an end to these type of communal violence and Pub attacks, then I would like to know why doesn’t he contest from Mangalore constituency.

Give me few good reasons as to what difference a Bangalore South candidate can make to the incident occurred at Mangalore

      Hi Purvaj,

exactly !!! Thats the attitude we all have ! stay in our homes because the problem is somewhere else, why bother ? like captain says , in a “cocoon ” , enjoying indifference. How does it matter where captain stands from ? what matters is atleast he is STANDING, Standing for a casue…

The question you put across is the sort of attitude that needs to change amongst us Indians. A communal issue is not specific to any state. Any problem and attack on one state is an issue for the whole nation. Captain Gopinath doesn’t necessarily have to stand from the Mangalore constituency to deal with problems there. Tomorrow if there is a problem in Gujarat, is the solution to change constituency there to deal with the issue? As Indian’s our apathy should lie with the nation and take every attack, every problem personally. The fact that a problem that happened outside the Captain’s zone of concerns has made him decide to stand up and take actions, shows that he has all the makings of an effective representative.
